STA (Short-Term Accommodation/Respite) –

 Frequently Asked Questions

Question

What exactly is STA (Short Term Accommodation)?

Answer

STA allows an NDIS participant to be supported by someone else while giving their caregiver a respite from their typical caregiving obligations for a brief period of time.

Accommodation, meals, negotiated activities, community access, and daily living aids are all included in a STA.

With Armar Healthcare Agency's solution, you may design your own STA experience with your own Support Worker.

Question

How does the STA at Armar Healthcare work?

Short-Term Accommodation allows you to receive no-cost lodging, meals, and activities that are all invoiced to your NDIS plan, allowing you to work towards and achieve your NDIS goals. Short-term housing can allow you to try new activities, build new skills and relationships, preserve your existing living circumstances, and give your informal support system a rest. Because STA is all about support, Armar Healthcare allows you to hire your own Support Worker for your respite. After you've arranged for your Support Worker, you may choose your lodging, activity, and meal alternatives, giving you more freedom and control! This is then billed to your NDIS plan through Armar Healthcare. There is only one line item. On our booking enquiry page, we provide a template that breaks down your STA's hotel, food, activity, and support staff budgets. After you submit your booking request through our website, one of our STA advisors will call you to help you plan your STA and answer any questions you may have. We cover all expenses and send you an itinerary, as well as any tickets, 48 hours before your STA begins.

Question

What role does a STA play in my NDIS plans?

If you are self-managed or plan managed, you can use Armar Healthcare's STA service. In your Core budget, you'll need to allocate the necessary funds. STA can be a specified item in a plan, but because Core is flexible, you can use your funds to support it if it helps you achieve your goals.

Question

Do I have to pay for my lodging in advance?

Answer

We can help you find a place to stay, or you can find your own.

We can only book a hotel that complies with our cancellation policy (free cancellation within 48 hours).

If you want to stay somewhere that doesn't follow this policy, you can.

You must book your preferred lodging, and we will either take over payment of the booking two days ahead to the start of your STA or deposit any money spent out of pocket back into your bank account.

Question

How do I make a reservation for my lodging?

Answer

You can book your accommodation in a variety of methods. These options can be discussed with your consultant.

Question

I don't want to be in the same room as my personal assistant. Is it possible for me to buy two rooms?

(This is true if you require overnight assistance or if your support worker lives too far away from the respite location to make daily trips.)

Answer

Having separate rooms for you and your support worker is essential for both of you. Please keep in mind that no one else should benefit from your plan, according to NDIA principles. As a result, we will only allow flats with 2-3 bedrooms.

Question

How far ahead of time can I book my lodging?

Answer

You have the option of booking your accommodations as long in advance as you choose. Please ensure that you check the cancellation policy of the venue prior to making the booking. According to Armar Healthcare's cancellation policy, we will only accept payment for your booking two days prior to the start of your STA.

Question
Do I have to book for a certain amount of days?

Answer

Armar Healthcare requires a minimum of two days' notice for each booking (1 night).

Question

How many days of lodging can I reserve at once?

Answer

You can use your funding for 1-14 days of respite in a succession, according to NDIA criteria. Please contact us if you have special circumstances so that our consultant can discuss them with you.

Question

My NDIS funds are managed by the NDIA. Is it possible for me to use your service?

Answer

We can only provide this service to self-, plan-managed Participants and NDIA managed. Is it necessary for me to bring a support worker?

Answer

Yes, according to the NDIA rules, in order for a STA to be declared reasonable and required, you must have a support worker. This will allow you and your informal supporters to make the most of your STA experience. During a STA, children require round-the-clock assistance. Adults (18 years and older) require a minimum of 4 hours of assistance and an on-call Support Worker for the remaining hours.

Question

How much does Armar Healthcare charge?

The daily charge for A. Armar Healthcare is only $374.00. This daily charge will be added to your final bill.

Question

What is the STA Breakdown?

Answer

The chart below shows the breakdown of daily charges that can be applied to each STA item. With this chart, we can be a little more flexible.

If your hotel costs less than $400 per night, for example, you may put the additional money into your activity or meal budget.

If your hotel costs more than $400 a night, you might get less activities.

This is something that can be discussed with us directly.(Only the following applies.) Please disregard and talk with us directly if you are using your own support worker or if you wish to employ Armar Healthcare's support worker (currently only accessible for STAs on the Gold Coast/Brisbane Area and Sunshine Coast Area).

Armar Healthcare will bundle these together and sell them as a single line item. Please note that your Support Workers wage will not be included on Armar Healthcare's invoice. Your support worker will need to submit a separate billing to your plan for the services they offer during your STA. You have the right to negotiate the wage payable with your Support Worker since you have choice and control. Please keep in mind that the above line is the maximum amount a Support Worker can bill against your plan for services provided during your STA.

How does this fit in with your NDIS objectives?

Nothing is impossible in our eyes. Many people are doing new things they've never done before in order to become more self-sufficient.

Please note that practically everything can be booked in advance unless a non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking, which is a risk for us. In most circumstances, we will pay for the activity 48 hours before your STA begins, or we will ask you to pay in advance and repay you two days before your STA begins
